Whispering    emerged from the coalescence of two visual styles I've found myself increasingly drawn to the past decade: Pre-Raphaelite and Renaissance paintings. When I relocated to the East Coast for school after ten years of living in Southern California, I knew I wanted to take advantage of the natural springs and wooded marsh close to my home town. This series was born from a desire to use the often muted, dreamy palettes of Sargent and Waterhouse in combination with the choked, antiquated sense of womanhood I grew up with in the south.
